Central Carroll High School Sends A Message About
THE POWER OF WORDS

What do the Columbine High School gunmen, high school freshman Phoebe Prince, and that kid who used to sit by himself at lunch, all have in common?  They were all victims of bullying, persecution, and taunting.  International icon, Oprah Winfrey, pop sensation, Demi Lovato, actor, Harrison Ford, and Olympic Swimming Champion, Stephanie Rice also all have something in common.  They were all victims of bullying as well, but through reaching out and telling someone about it, these individuals didn't allow the persecution they endured prevent  them from attaining their dreams.   Bullying has become a serious issue in our nation for people of all ages, from the elementary school playground, to university campuses, as well as for many adults on the job.  Bullying has gained much attention in the media not only in the U.S, but also worldwide.  Race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, and social status are only some of the reasons people suffer from persecution and taunting.   New forms of bullying have also developed through the world of technology such as text messaging, social networks, and the internet.   The act of bullying should not go unnoticed or ignored as it has in many cases that have ended in tragedy.  Although most victims of bullying do not take matters into their own hands, a few of them can be pushed to certain critical limits such violence or even suicide.  Ending a life should never be the response being bullied, but some feel it’s the only escape.
The 12 young ladies of Central Carroll Performance Ensemble present a stirring look at this terrible issue which has affected everyone’s life in some way.  With their 2011 program, THE POWER OF WORDS,  Central’s performance will bring awareness to the many reasons people, particularly kids, are bullied and persecuted, at a time in life that should be one of their happiest.  Through a powerful landscape of music and emotion developed by Dustin Lowes at DRL Music Production ( www.dustinlowes.com ), the ensemble will send a message of love and hope to those who are victimized, make a statement for those who ignore it, and ask for change from those who are on the offense.   A change can come.
The Central Carroll Performance Ensemble is sponsored by the Central Carroll High School Band Boosters, Inc . ( www.lionpride.org ) and will be appearing with the Central Carroll High School Lion Pride Marching Band in the122nd Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California.
